The true density of Knauf Perlite Classic is between 2.0 and 2.2 g/cm³, resulting in a very high pore volume of 95 vol%. Its hygroscopic equilibrium moisture content is less than 1.5 weight percent. Depending on the degree of screening, its water storage capacity is between 28 and 50 percent. At just 90 kg per cubic meter, Knauf Perlite Classic is particularly lightweight and easy to handle. It is RHP-certified and approved for organic cultivation, meaning it meets the strict requirements for use in certified organic farming systems. Due to its high porosity and water-holding capacity, Knauf Perlite Classic is often used as a substrate or additive to substrates in various applications, such as plant cultivation or construction.
